Attorney General Eric Holder has testified before congress repeatedly regarding his knowledge of the circumstances that led to guns being taken to Mexico between 2006-2011 during an A.T.F. operation known as "Operation Fast and Furious", and without a method to track them, many of the guns were either never recovered, or used in a crime, and recovered from those crime scenes. The Attorney General on five separate occasions testified before congress that he had never received multiple memos sent to his office which pertained to the operation. On June 28, 2012, Holder became the first sitting member of the Cabinet of the United States to be held in criminal contempt of Congress by the House of Representatives for refusing to disclose internal Justice Department documents in response to a subpoena.
